Short Attention Span Musing

Time to bring this concept back...

...Am I the only one who believes that if Barry Goldwater, the man who was too crazy conservative to win the presidential election in 1964. would be proclaimed to be "too liberal" by his own party and would be primaried for even a PC slot?

...If...OK,*when*...Cheeto announces his intent to run for POTUS in 2024, he'll get at least one less vote than he did in 2020.

From ABC -

'I'll never vote again' for former President Trump: Arizona House Speaker Rusty Bowers

Arizona House Speaker Rusty Bowers may lose his Republican primary for an open state senate seat this week, after he testified to the Jan. 6 committee about the pressure campaign from former President Donald Trump and his associates to undo the presidential election results in the state.

Bowers has drawn the ire of the Arizona GOP, who censured him earlier this month, and of former President Trump. But he's unapologetic about his congressional testimony and his decision not to overturn the Arizona's results.

"If we want to base a party and an authority and move people to solve problems, you can't base it on a lie. Ultimately, that falls apart," he told "This Week" co-anchor Jonathan Karl in an exclusive interview at his home in Mesa, Arizona.

...Chuck Todd, the moderator of NBC's Meet the Press, is a moron.  Not exactly a new or original opinion,  I know, but today brought it home.  He was on Channel 12's Sunday Square Off with Brahm Resnik and he pronounced that Senator Kysten Sinema wouldn't kill the climate/deficit reduction deal agreed to my Chuck Schumer and Joe Manchin.

I think that not only will she do so, she'll have a twinkle in her eye and a song in her heart when she does so.

And the song will be playing so loud that others will be able to hear it.

I hope to be wrong about this, but her track record on things isn't positive.

Betcha Rusty Bowers isn't on Ginni Thomas' Christmas card list

Her email list?  Certainly.

Her Christmas card list?  Almost certainly not.

From CNN -

Arizona lawmaker Rusty Bowers details the pressure put on him by Trump and Giuliani

Arizona House Speaker Rusty Bowers, a Republican, told the committee during today's hearing about the pressure put on him by former President Donald Trump and his allies, including Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani.

Bowers testified that Giuliani told him of allegations of voter fraud committed by undocumented immigrants or dead people who were listed as having voted.

Bowers said he and other GOP legislators pushed for explanations into the theories and for Giuliani to provide sufficient evidence to justify recalling the state's presidential electors.

"In my recollection," Bowers said of Giuliani, "he said, We have lots of theories we just don't have the evidence.'"

One thing from the article really caught my attention.  Cheeto and his minions really consider treason to be a partisan issue. (Emphasis added by me)

""You are asking me to do something against my oath, and I will not break my oath," he said he told Trump and Giuliani, to which the former New York mayor said: "Aren't we all Republicans here? I would think we'd get a better reception."

Ginni Thomas: albatross

And not just around Clarence Thomas' neck.

From CNN -

Ginni Thomas pressed Arizona state lawmakers to upend Biden's win by choosing Trump electors instead

Ginni Thomas, wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, pressed two Arizona state lawmakers after the 2020 presidential election to upend Joe Biden's popular vote win in that state by ensuring "a clean slate of electors" was chosen, according to emails released Friday.

The emails -- which started with what appear to be pre-generated form letters from conservative activist Ginni Thomas to Arizona state representatives Russell Bowers and Shawnna Bolick -- show that she encouraged both lawmakers to "fight back against fraud" and exercise what she characterized as their constitutional authority to unilaterally choose the electors rather than accepting those based on popular vote results.

The article *did* raise a couple of questions (aside from the obvious one of why is Clarence Thomas still a member of the Supreme Court when his wife is a traitor) -

1.  Why didn't the article mention the fact that Rep. Russell Bowers is, in fact, Rusty Bowers, and is Speaker of the Arizona House of Representatives?

2.  Why didn't the article mention the fact that Rep. Shawnna Bolick is, in fact, married to Clint Bolick, a member of the Arizona Supreme Court, and is also a candidate for the Republican nomination for Arizona Secretary of State, the person who oversees Arizona's elections?

3.  Pardon my cynicism, but I have a sneaking suspicion the Senate president Karen Fann has a similar email from Ginni Thomas.  Of course, Fann has email issues of her own.
