Tuesday, November 3, 2026 may go down in history as a great day for American democracy, but it comes with some caveats:
1. Don't gloat. Last night, while a resounding repudiation of Rs and their policies, was NOT an enthusiastic embrace of Ds and their policies. If anything was embraced last night, it was "not Trumpkins." Earn 2026-level support in 2028 and going forward.
2. Don't forget. Last night, people voted based on what was important to them. And that was pocketbook issues; Corruption was important, too, but don't lose sight of the pain real people are facing.
3. Don't be hypocrites. Go after corruption, but don't hold Ds to lighter standards than those Rs are held to. There's no exception for ethical and moral standards based on professed ideology.
To summarize: don't become Republicans or Republican-lite.
Voters don't want that.
