Horne says Kyrene School District in Tempe risks losing federal funds over draft policy

On Tuesday, the Kyrene School District in Tempe preliminarily approved a social and emotional wellness workplace cultures policy for its staff. It still awaits a final vote.

Arizona Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Horne says it could risk the district’s federal funding.

Horne says the policy’s mention of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion is the issue.

"I think what Kyrene has done is outrageous on two fronts, number one: they are going to forfeit a lot of money for their kids education. They’re not really representing the interests of their students. Number two: they’re doing something that I think is wrong philosophically," Horne said.

Horne may be philosophically opposed to DEI, but, apparently, he's not opposed to cheating on his wife or committing crimes to conceal that fact.

She is still a licensed doctor.

Comparisons of Cheeto to mob bosses? I can't think of a surer way to tick off...mob bosses

In a previous post, I likened Cheeto to some fictional mob bosses/members.

David Corn of Mother Jones has compared him to the real thing, as Cheeto has been indicted under Georgia's RICO law (RICO = "Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations").

There's an old saying about how all NYC real estate developers are at least a little mobbed up, and I figured that was the extent of Cheeto's ties to the mob.

Corn has disabused me of that notion.

Former President Donald Trump’s fourth indictment, annotated

A grand jury in Georgia has indicted former President Donald Trump and 18 allies on state charges stemming from his efforts to overturn his 2020 electoral defeat in the Peach State.

The 41-count indictment was unsealed Monday and is the fourth criminal case that Trump is facing.

Just a guess here, but Cheeto seems to think of himself as a cross between two fictional movie characters - Vito and Michael Corleone of the Godfather saga, portrayed by Marlon Brando/Robert De Niro and Al Pacino, respectively.

You know, perceptive, smart, and tough.

Instead, he's more like Joe Pesci's Tommy DeVito character from the movie Goodfellas.

You know, ego-driven, insecure, and volatile.

BTW, I heartily recommend viewing Godfather I and II, and Goodfellas.  While they're very different movies, all are very good.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) hasn’t forgotten that some corporations halted donations to Republican lawmakers who didn’t vote to certify the 2020 presidential election.

After that contest, then-President Donald Trump spent weeks lying about the election being stolen from him. Predictably, many of his supporters believed the claim. Some of them arrived in Washington, D.C. for what initially began as a protest on Jan. 6, 2021. On that day, members of Congress convened to certify the election.

“Well, let’s just put it like this,” she replied. “You know what they did after Jan. 6, Steve? They stopped donating. All the lobbyists, all the big corporations stopped to a whole bunch of my Republican colleagues that they used to donate to. They said, ‘Oh, no. We can’t support you because of the big lie’ or whatever they want to call it. So, I want you to know – and this is something they should all know – that’s not going to be forgotten by a whole bunch of my Republican colleagues because that was really ridiculous and wrong.”

Greene then pledged “investigations” into said companies.

Pay-to-play or give in to extortion?  If the corporations and/or lobbyists pony up some cash now, they'll be committing a crime, right now, it's just on MTG.

Who I'm guessing is being talked to by some of her colleagues right about now.

October surprises can happen, even to candidates in downballot races

 ...though one usually doesn't happen because of the candidate's own behavior - during the campaign.

Candidate for Maricopa Co. Community College District seat arrested for public sexual indecency

A candidate for a Maricopa County Community College District seat was arrested for alleged public sexual indecency.

On October 4, an officer with the Maricopa County Colleges Police Department observed a pickup truck in the parking lot at Rio Salado College Surprise.

According to a police report, when the officer approached the front passenger door window he witnessed Randy Kaufman touching himself inappropriately.

The Republican Party of Arizona released the following statement:

Every American citizen has the right to fair treatment throughout the judicial system. The Republican Party of Arizona respects due process and the Consitution {sic}. We support Mr. Kaufman's decision to suspend his campaign.

If the AZGOP truly respected the Constitution, they'd spell it correctly.

Of course, if they truly respected the Constitution they'd respect things conducted under it, like elections.

He was running for an at-large seat on the governing board of the Maricopa County Community College District.
