This week's theme seems to be "strikers gone wild."
There are a LOT of them this week.
Because some agendas are so long and there are so many strikers this week, I have to divide this post into two parts - Monday's and Tuesday's committee agendas will be covered in part 1; part 2 will cover Wednesday's and Thursday's. I hope to have part 2 up on Monday night, though it may get pushed out until Tuesday.
Note: Any bill that was approved in its originating chamber and then is subsequently changed ("amended") in the other chamber must be returned to its original chamber to be reapproved. If that doesn't happen, it then goes to a conference committee for the two chambers to work out the differences.
Schedules can, and frequently do, change at any moment when the legislature is in session. So pay attention.
Note: HHR refers to a hearing room in the House building; SHR refers to one in the Senate building.
Note2: Generally, I'll only specify bills that look to spread propaganda. Other bills may be more conventionally b, ad (think: corrupt or other misuses of public monies and/or authority). My recommendation is that if an agenda covers an area of interest to you, read the entire agenda.
Note3: Each chamber's respective Rules Committee meets on Monday, the House's in HHR4, generally at 1 p.m. and the Senate's in Senate Caucus Room 1, generally also at 1 p.m. Both committees serve as rubber stamps for bills leadership wants to be advanced and gatekeepers for measures that leadership wants stopped.
Note4: Meeting start times may be listed, but are flexible. Before journeying to the Capitol or viewing the meeting online, verify the start time.
Note5: Watch for strikers, or strike everything amendments. Those involve inserting language that replaces the entirety of a bill. Those can be introduced at any time and can make a previously harmless bill become a very bad one.
On Wednesday, 3/25
-
Senate Government meets at 7 a.m. in SHR1. On the agenda: 25 measures, two strikers.
HB2917 will have one related to "government surveillance; safeguards; privacy protection" (text not available as yet).
HCR2016 will have one related to "fees; taxes; freeze; affordability" (text not available as yet).
While the agenda isn't completely filled with propaganda, there's enough to make this a very bad agenda.
House Government meets at 9 a.m. in HHR5. On the agenda: 19 measures, no strikers. This seems to be a "hate as multi-tasking" agenda - there are anti affirmative action, anti trans, anti municipality
House Judiciary meets at 9 a.m. in HHR4. On the agenda: 21 measures, one striker.
SB1004 will have one related to "sex offenders; electronic monitoring."
Includes SCR1040, asking the voters to raise the mandatory retirement age for judges from 70 to 75. On one hand, most judges were appointed under Republican governors, and the Rs may want to extend their influence there even if the Rs get hammered in this fall's elections; on the other hand, Cheeto's obvious mental (and ethical!) deterioration as he's gotten older won't help this one.
Senate Regulatory Affairs and Government Efficiency meets at 9 a.m. in SHR109. On the agenda: 20 bills, seven strikers.
HB2072 will have one related to repealing the state holiday for Cesar Chavez (proposed by Sen. Shawnna Bolick). I don't disagree with it, not at all, but it would be nice if Sen. Bolick also called for the release of the Epstein files.
Probably not going happen. Not from someone so heavily involved in overturning the election results in 2020.
HB2400 will have one related to "emergency fuel waiver; petition; requirement". It's about waiving environmental protections in an effort to lower gasoline prices. Also from Bolick, who could have called for the end of Cheeto's war of choice in Iran.
Probably not going happen. Not from someone so heavily involved in overturning the election results in 2020.
HB2456 will have one related to "county comprehensive plans". Also from Bolick, this one is about protecting small nuclear reactors and data centers.
HB2873 will have one related to "municipal referendum petitions."
HB2877 will have one related to "veterinary technicians; education alternative."
HB2910 will have one related to "oral preventive assistants; repeal."
HB2991 will have one related to "social media; age verification."

HB2028 will have one related to "homelessness; indigence; community service."
HB2406 will have one related to "minor victims; public record prohibition".
HB4117 will have one related to "same subject." The underlying bill's subject was "disturbing religious services; worship"; the underlying measure was anti-democratic garbage, but the striker would make it...anti-democratic garbage.
Senate Public Safety meets as 1:30 p.m. in SHR109. On the agenda: two presentations/ anti immigrant propaganda sessions and seven bills. No strikers.
House Appropriations meets at 2 p.m. in HHR1. On the agenda: six bills, two strikers.

SB1517 will have one related to "homeowners’ associations; property covenants; disclosures."
House Federalism, Military Affairs & Elections meets at 2 p.m. in HHR4. On the agenda: one presentation, 14 measures, four strikers. The presentation will be given by noted bigot and committee chair John Gillette and at least seven of the measures to be considered look to be anti democracy propaganda.
Strikers:
SB1060 will have one related to "foreign monies; higher education; prohibition."
SB1134 will have one related to "firearms; destruction; courts."
SB1429 will have one related to "ballot measures; circulators; disclosure."
