Any list of those absent? Who gives out the excused absences?
I don't have a list of those who were out, but excused absences are given out by the speaker of the house/president of the senate.
Don't know the exact number of the Senators who showed up over there, but I was told it was roughly the same percentage.
Actually, the number attending today isn't as important as the number who show up on Thursday. Over in the Senate, the Republicans will need all of the votes they can round up to get this stuff to pass.
The just needed to get a quorum so that they could open the special session.
