One could hope for a government shutdown but who here will guess that the Arizona Supreme Court, the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the Arizona Department of Corrections will be arresting and caging cannabis consumers same as always.

Thane,

I don't know why some politicians don't just take the bull by the horns and announce that they are sponsoring legislation (like Barney Frank does nationally) and legalize hemp.

It's not the kiss of death anymore for a politician to just come out and say (s)he is in favor of legalizing hemp.

Except, apparently, in Arizona.

I would presume there are two reasons why legalizing cannabis isn't a campaign issue for candidates in Arizona.

The Republicans still can't distinguish between what they consider a vice and what We the People consider a crime.

The primary Democrat support group (government teachers) are secondary to the government police and prison employee lobby.

I saw plenty of teachers out last night at the Arizona legislature but nobody mentioned any police or prison guards because they are presumed to be more important than government school teachers.

And the last reason cannabis legalization isn't on the forefront is because not enough people ask candidates to support it.
