Well, Weiers got his way today...

He was able to shoehorn his budget through the House today by a 31 - 29 margin. Once again, the Democratic caucus was solid, with every member voting against the measure; Jennifer Burns and Pete Hershberger crossed over from the Rep side.

During last vote on May 15, Republicans Groe, Biggs, Farnsworth, and Mason also voted against the motion. They switched back today.

No shocks here.

Anyone interested in starting a pool on when the budget fight will be resolved and the lege can adjourn? Purely for entertainment value, of course. :)

Later!

In that case, I'll take June 5th.

Okay, I don't understand the Lege these days, why do people keep bouncing back and forth? And how many times have they voted on this same bill 5 or 6 times?

I think that they've voted on the bill twice now; they'll have to vote again once the differences with the Senate are worked out.

As for why some of them keep changing, the best guess is that some of the more conservative members of the Rep caucus who crossed over last week were looking to make a deal with Weiers to get a pet item into the budget. Trish Groe voted against it originally because under House rules only someone who voted on the prevailing side of the vote could move to reconsider it at a later date. Her vote was purely strategic.

For purely selfish reasons I want it to go until after June 26th.
