Brnovich (mis)uses his position as AZAG to have the public pay for those who wish to threaten the public

From Howard Fischer of Capitol Media Services, published by the Arizona Capitol Times -

AG: Parents can take schools to court over quarantine

If your child is sent home to quarantine when school resumes because of possible exposure to Covid, you have the right to challenge that in court.

And the state will even pay for your lawyer.

That bit of information comes because state Sen. Kelly Townsend, R-Mesa, decided to ask Attorney General Mark Brnovich about a section of the state Health Code that gives state and county health officials various powers during a state of emergency. And one of them specifically allows those agencies to “require isolation or quarantine of any person.”

The opinion is here.

Not sure who is more craven here - Townsend, in her quest to use her position to ignore the science and endanger others or Brnovich, in his quest to win the R primary for US Senate by siphoning money from society in order to pay those who wish to threaten it.

OK - it's Brnovich.

Townsend is simply a lousy human being, which hardly makes her unique at the state legislature; it just makes her eligible for the Legislative Loon Award.

Brnovich is a public employee who is looking to sacrifice the public on the altar of his lust for high office.

DeSantis takes a page out of Brnovich's book

Apparently, Ron DeSantis (R-FL) aspires to the presidency as much Mark Brnovich (R-AZ) wishes to be a US Senator.

From NPR today-

Florida is suing Biden over the vaccine mandate for federal contractors

The state of Florida on Thursday sued President Joe Biden's administration over its coronavirus vaccine mandate for federal contractors, opening yet another battleground between Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis and the White House.

The lawsuit, announced by DeSantis at a news conference, alleges the president doesn't have the authority to issue the rule and that it violates procurement law.

This is not a new tactic for Rs who are looking at/running for higher office.

Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich sues Biden administration for 'federal overreach'

Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich announced in a statement Tuesday that the state is suing President Joe Biden "and other officials in his administration" over the new coronavirus vaccine mandates Biden announced last week.

"Attorney General Mark Brnovich announced his office (AGO) is suing President Biden and other officials in his administration over their unconstitutional COVID-19 vaccine mandate for federal employees, federal contractors, and private businesses with more than 100 employees. This is the first lawsuit in the country to be filed against the Biden Administration's radical actions requiring COVID-19 vaccines," the news release said.

Apparently2, Republicans think that only Republican presidents have any say over federal contractors.

Kelly leads Republicans in 2022 race

Guess being anti-vax/anti mask/anti society isn't a good way to attract voters.

Pointed to this by Taegan Goddard's Political Wire.

From OH Predictive Insights -

Kelly Leads in All Head-To-Head Matchups

Brnovich on Top in GOP Senate Primary

When Democratic U.S. Senator Mark Kelly was elected last November, he faced a rather unique position than most of his other freshman colleagues: U.S. Senators are normally elected to six-year terms, but Kelly – who won a special election to finish the late-Sen. John McCain's term – would have to face voters once again in two years for a fresh six-year term. According to OH Predictive Insights’ (OHPI) latest Arizona Public Opinion Pulse (AZPOP) survey, Senator Mark Kelly is leading the pack in all head-to-head matchups.

This Arizona Public Opinion Pulse (AZPOP) survey was conducted September 7th – September 12th, 2021 and surveyed 882 registered voters in Arizona and had a margin of error of +/- 3.3%.

At least Arizona is 1st in something, that's good, right?

If it was in public education, it would be.

Turns out, it's not.

From CBS -

Arizona becomes first state to sue Biden administration over COVID-19 vaccine mandates

Arizona's attorney general filed a lawsuit Tuesday that seeks to invalidate President Biden's latest COVID-19 vaccine requirements for federal workers and large companies, becoming the first state to mount a legal challenge to the administration's newest rules.

In a 14-page complaint filed with a federal district court in Arizona, Attorney General Mark Brnovich argued Mr. Biden's new vaccine requirements unconstitutionally discriminate against U.S. citizens because undocumented immigrants apprehended by federal law enforcement are not subject to a federal vaccination requirement.

If Brnovich's misuse of his office only harmed anti-society types like himself, nobody would care.  At least, no decent folks would care.

However, his quest for the Trumpkin vote is now threatening to harm the rest of us.

If Brnovich had any honor, he'd resign.

Of course, if he had any honor, he wouldn't be Mark Brnovich.

Arizona makes the national news again. And again, it's not in a good way.

At least it's not for the fraudit this time.

From The Hill -

Arizona father threatens to zip tie principal after son told to quarantine

An Arizona father threatened his son's elementary school principal with a citizen's arrest while wielding zip ties after he received news that his child would be required to quarantine after coming in contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19.

Vail Unified School District officials told a local NBC News station that the man, who was not named, arrived at Mesquite Elementary School on Thursday morning along with his child and two other men to protest the quarantine policy.

The story from KVOA, the "local NBC News station" referenced in The Hill's story -

Police on-scene at Vail elementary school after group threatens to zip-tie principal over COVID-19 protocols

A conflict over the COVID-19 quarantine policy at a Vail Unified School District elementary school has been resolved shortly after protesters threatened to make a citizen's arrest on the principal Thursday morning.

According to VUSD officials, a student at Mesquite Elementary School was asked to quarantine after he reportedly was in close contact with an individual who tested positive for COVID-19.

VUSD said this decision was made per state policy, citing that when a school in Arizona experiences a positive case of COVID-19, it is required to report the case to its county health department - in Vail's case, Pima County Health Department. Then, the county decides which individuals need to quarantine in order to prevent a potential outbreak in the community.

AP picked it up, too -

1 arrest after clash over Arizona school’s COVID mandates

The father of an Arizona elementary school student was arrested after he and two other men showed up to the campus with zip ties, threatening to make a “citizen’s arrest” on the school principal over a COVID-19 quarantine, school officials said Friday.

Diane Vargo, principal of Mesquite Elementary School in Tucson, said the parent came to her office Thursday with his son in tow. The father was upset the child would have to isolate and miss a school field trip because of possible exposure to someone with COVID-19. She said two other men also “barged in.”

So far, I haven't found the arrested man's name, but I fully expect Dougie has it and will pardon the man, if it gets that far.  Dougie may just make a call and have Markie force/influence the Pima County Attorney's Office to drop the case.

Does Mark Brnovich plan to campaign for US Senate on the backs of two dead people?

From KJZZ

AG Submits Brief In Supreme Court Appeal Seeking To Overturn 9th Circuit Rulings On Death Penalty Cases

The Arizona attorney general is asking the U.S. Supreme Court to reverse decisions from the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in two death penalty cases.

[snip]

Attorney General Mark Brnovich filed a petition with the Supreme Court in January arguing the 9th Circuit violated federal law by basing the decisions on claims of ineffective counsel.

The brief is here.

Yes, Kyrsten Sinema is in trouble

From Data For Progress (pointed to this by Taegan Goddard's Political Wire) -

WHO IS KYRSTEN SINEMA REALLY REPRESENTING?

Halfway through her term as Senator of Arizona, Kyrsten Sinema is finding herself seemingly at odds with the members of her party. Her dedication to preserving the filibuster has stood as a significant obstacle to enacting a number of important bills and to more general Democratic governance despite the party’s trifecta in Washington, DC. Most recently, her unwavering stance on the filibuster enabled Republicans to block the For the People Act, a sweeping voting rights bill that is popular with the Democratic base, leadership, and her constituents back home in Arizona. In a recent poll by Data For Progress, we found strong majority support for this bill and a number of others that are high on the Democrats’ policy agenda. We also found that Arizona voters from across the political spectrum are displeased overall with her performance as Senator. Taken together, this begs the question: if her policy stances are alienating leadership and voters alike, who exactly is Kyrsten Sinema representing in Congress?

Even if she makes it through a primary, in a general election, she'll have problems.

I expect that many of the folks who, like me, held their noses and voted for her in 2018, will skip the race if she's on the general election ballot in 2024.

It also may be why Doug Ducey is letting Mark Brnovich take on Mark Kelly in 2022 for his seat in the US Senate; in 2024, he wants to be the Republican nominee for POTUS, and may settle for being the R nominee for VPOTUS.  Depending on how that works out, he may accept the consolation prize of challenging Sinema for a spot in the US Senate.

The best thing for Sinema may be if the R nominee is someone who is utterly nuts; say a Gosar or Biggs.

On the other hand, they're in safe Congressional districts so they may not run for a Senate seat..
